Laringectomia parcial por via externa no tratamento do cancro laríngeo – Ainda fará sentido?

Introdução: O tratamento do cancro da laringe pretende
controlar a doença e preservar simultaneamente a estrutura e
funções laríngeas. O propósito do nosso estudo foi determinar
se a laringectomia parcial por via externa mantém o seu lugar
no panorama actual do tratamento do cancro da laringe.
Desenho do estudo: Os doentes submetidos a cirurgia parcial
laríngea por via aberta no IPO Porto foram estudados relativo
ao período compreendido entre o dia 1 de Janeiro de 1998 e o
dia 31 de Dezembro de 2010.
Materiais e métodos: Os processos clínicos foram revistos,
à procura de aspectos oncológicos e funcionais. As taxas de
sobrevivência foram calculadas através do método de Kaplan-
Meier.
Resultados: Os resultados oncológicos e funcionais dos
nossos doentes estão de acordo com os resultados favoráveis
registados noutros centros.
Conclusão: O tratamento do cancro da laringe deve ser
individualizado de acordo com factores relacionados com
o tumor, o doente e o cirurgião. A laringectomia parcial por
via externa permite em casos seleccionados alcançar bons
resultados funcionais sem negligenciar o prognóstico dos
doentes com tumores da laringe.
