Abstract

Objectives: Evaluate the case series regarding sinonasal inverted papilloma surgery.

Study Design: restrospective.

Materials and Methods: We analyzed the clinical records of patients with histological diagnosis of inverted papilloma between January 1990 and January 2014, relevant demographic, clinical, imaging and surgical data were collected.

Results: 24 cases operated, corresponding to 19 patients. The recurrence rate in this serie was 26 %, and the mean follow-up was 33 months. No cases of malignancy were observed.

Conclusions: Inverted papilloma (IP) is one of the most common tumors of the sinonasal region representing about 0.5 to 4% of tumors in this topography. Arise more frequently in male, usually in 5th and 6th decades of life. The treatment of choice is surgical with endoscopic approach being increasingly accepted, despite the possibility of performing an external approach.
