Aim: Describe diagnosed cases of sinonasal inverted papilloma (IP) especially based on clinical, treatment and recurrences.
Materials and Methods: A retrospective descriptive study was done of 26 patients diagnosed of PI at our hospital between 2005 and 2014.
Results: Nineteen male patients (73.07%) and seven women (26.92%). The main symptom was unilateral respiratory failure. The most common site was the turbinate and middle meatus (65.38%). CT scan was performed in all the patients. 88.46% of the patients required surgical treatment, endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) was performed in all of them, one case associated with open surgery. 7 patients presented recurrence (26.92%).
Conclusions: The endoscopic approach is the method of choice for the treatment of the majority of inverted papillomas with better results than open techniques. Due to the high recurrence close follow up should be performed after surgery.
