Abstract

The Fusocellular Epithelial Tumor with thymic-like differentiation (SETTLE) is a rare malignant thyroid tumor, more present in young patients. In this case report we present a 12-year-old patient, attended at the University Hospital in the northwest of the state of São Paulo (Brazil), due to the presence of cervical nodulation with progressive growth. The initial evaluation by Ultrasonography and Fine Needle Aspiration (PAAF) considered the SETTLE hypothesis. The Total Thyroidectomy procedure allowed subsequent confirmation of SETTLE by anatomopathological and immunohistochemical analysis of the surgical product. The patient is followed up with pediatric otorhinolaryngology and oncology teams with apparent total control and no signs of recurrence, in addition to pediatric endocrinology follow-up for post-surgical hormonal replacement.
