Abstract

34-year-old woman who presented a tumor in the right area Va of approximately 2.5 cm indurated, neither adherent, or painful on palpation. Cells with a plasmacytoid appearance were observed in FNAB. On CT, an heterogeneous 3 x 2 cm image was observed between the trapezius and the right scalene muscles. PET-CT described a right cervical mass at Va level, with high metabolic activity. A complete excision of the tumor was performed, which in the pathological study showed results consistent with CIC-rearranged sarcoma (19q13.2). A complementary treatment with external radiotherapy was carried out, after which the patient remained asymptomatic. In control cervical-thoracic CT scan, multiple space-occupying lesions were found in both lungs. A new PET-CT showed hypermetabolic lesions in the lung compatible with metastasis. She was assessed by Medical Oncology and was referred to a sarcoma referral unit for treatment.
