Abstract

Transsphenoidal congenital meningocele is a rare and poorly studied condition. We present the case of a premature, low-weight patient who presented respiratory symptoms and poor oral tolerance from birth. During their study, an imaging test identified a transsphenoidal meningocele occupying the rhinopharynx; Given this finding and the poor clinical evolution, we decided to surgically intervene the patient. Despite the fact that the reviewed bibliography does not report cases treated surgically for less than 3 months of age and that the endoscopic approach can be very complicated due to its anatomical limitations, we decided on a successful endoscopic endonasal approach and good subsequent evolution.
