Introduction: Metastases to the thyroid gland are uncommon and represent only 2% of thyroid malignancies. However, they should be included in the differential diagnosis of thyroid tumors.
Case Report: We report two cases of patients with prior history of clear cell renal carcinoma (CCRC) in complete remission after nephrectomy. Years later, new thyroid nodules were accidentally detected (during self-examination and along with the study of a pancreatic tumor). Early histological studies were inconclusive, so a surgical approach was elected. Anatomopathological report confirmed metachronous metastases from CCRC.
Conclusion: Clinical and radiological resemblance between metastasis and primary thyroid tumors represent a diagnostic challenge often solved after the study of the medical record and histopathological features. Surgical approach in selected cases is associated with long-term survival, even in non-solitary metastases
