Introduction: nasal mucosal melanomas represent uncommon tumors with high rate of relapse and poor prognosis.
Methods and material: the authors analyzed the medical files of patients with nasal mucosal melanomas, between 1995 and 2010 and described the gender, age, staging based on the American Joint Committee on Cancer, overall survival and survival free of disease. The authors established the relation between staging and prognosis. Data were analyzed with SPSS© program.
Results: in a group of 23 cases, the overall survival was 30 months or less for patients in advanced staging (p<0.05).
Conclusion: staging at diagnosis influenced significantly the prognosis of nasal mucosal melanomas.
