Abstract

Objectives - Survival analysis in advanced head and neck carcinomas subject to primary treatment with chemoradiotherapy followed by neck dissection from 2000 to 2010 (IPO Coimbra).

Study design – Retrospective

Materials and Methods – 48 cases retrospective and descriptive study. Literature review on survival in advanced head and neck carcinomas subject to primary treatment with chemo-radiotherapy followed by neck dissection.

Results – The median survival was 48.6 ± 35,5 months. Overall survival at 3 and 5 years was respectively 53,1% and 30,6%. About 9,9 % of isolated nodes were histologically positive for malignancy.

Conclusions – The Overall survival at 3 and 5 years, in advanced head and neck carcinomas subject to primary treatment with chemo-radiotherapy followed by neck dissection, was respectively 53,1 % and 30,6 %.
