Primary papillary carcinoma in a thyroglossal duct cyst – Case report

We report a clinical case of a 45 years old woman who was diagnosed with papillary carcinoma of thyroglossal cyst, identified in anatomopathologic study after surgery by Sistrunk procedure. Thyroglossal cysts are the most common congenital cystic lesions of the neck and can be malignant in less than 1% of cases. There have been described few cases of papillary carcinoma arising in thyroglossal duct cysts and there are controversies about the diagnostic and treatment management.
