Nowadays, dental implants are often used for artificial replacement of the natural teeth. Implant operations have been considered safe and as a result are being performed more frequently. Like other operations it is not risk free and complications have been known. In this paper an implant case report is shown (first surgical procedure) in which the patient suffered life threatening airway because of a massive haematoma of the tongue and the floor of the mouth. It was imperative to carry out an urgent operation for tracheotomy and bleeding control. In this work we performed a bibliographical research and a discussion about the anatomy, the probable cause and the therapeutic management of this complication.
