Abstract

The authors present the case report of a female patient with thyroid orbitopathy who suddenly suffered a rapidly progressive bilateral vision loss, consequence of intraorbital compression of the optic nerve. In order to save patient’s vision, a bilateral decompression of the orbit as well as the optic nerve was undertaken. The etiophatogenic aspects of Graves’ Disease and the merits of specific therapeutic modalities in thyroid orbitopathy are further discussed.
