The diversity in the quality of the profound sensorineural hearing loss raises various some questions concerning the prognosis and consequently the type of intervention to choose and the adequate moment to implement it.
Variables, such loudness, pitch and time distortions as well as brain plasticity are critical to speech, language and cognitive development.
The existing limitations in audiological tools for an adequate prognosis, raises the issue of decision criteria about type and time of intervention.
