Abstract

The cervical cysts hove a behaviour and prognostic that vary according to its source, time of evolution, nature and dimensions.

One should consider metastasis of pharyngeal, laryngeal, thyroid, parathyroid, lungs and salivary glands neoplasms.

Any swelling in retro and parapharyngeal spaces can cause digestive and airway compromise.

Thyroid cysts spontaneous haematomas cases ore rare.

The authors describe o case report of a young woman with a sudden set of painless cervical tumefaction causing dyspnea, related to a thyroid node which is exclusively cystic, with sero-hemathic filling, as well as the applied treatment.

ln this work it is presented o retrospective of cervical masses cases that occured in lhe Navy Hospital from 2001 to 2005.

There were no records of thyroid haematomas within this period.
