Abstract

Parotid sialocele refers to a condition triggered by the accumulation of extravasated saliva, due to the existence of injury, in the subcutaneous tissues of the parotid gland and adjacent areas, causing facial swelling and compression of important facial structures. There are different causes for its development, such as trauma, idiopathic, iatrogenic, complication due to surgical approaches, infectious process and ductal stenosis. As there is no consensus in the literature regarding the management of the clinical condition, different approaches are used. This paper discusses the conduct of three cases of sialoceles with different etiologies. The first case consisted of a 30-year-old male patient, victim of a motorcycle accident, who developed sialocele due to postoperative complications of temporomandibular access. The second, a 35-year-old female patient who was a victim of stab wounds. The third, a 32-year-old male patient, developed sialocele as a result of sialolith.
