Eficácia da sonoplastia no tratatmento da roncopatia: estudo retrospectivo

A Roncopatia Simples (RS) afecta 25% da população adulta, enquanto que o ressonar leve a moderado poderá afectar até 30% das mulheres e 50% dos homens adultos.
A Sonoplastia ou Radiofrequência do Palato (RFP) é um procedimento relativamente recente usado no tratamento da RS e na síndrome da apneia obstrutiva do sono (SAOS) leve a moderada com obstrução predominante ao nível do palato.
Os autores apresentam uma revisão dos doentes submetidos a sonoplastia no Hospital Pedro Hispano entre 2002 e 2006, avaliando a eficácia desta técnica no controlo da roncopatia. Os resultados da RFP são apresentados de acordo com a melhoria subjectiva avaliada pela Escala Analógica Visual para o Ressonar, com a intensidade do ressonar avaliada pelo protocolo do Serviço e pela necessidade de outro procedimento cirúrgico posterior. São comparados com os disponíveis na literatura e são revistas a indicações da Sonoplastia no tratamento da RS e da SAOS leve a moderada.
